The three slot pay phones we offer were staples of the telecommunications industry from about 1915 to the mid-1970s. Although the basic design didn't change, there were hundreds of changes made to the instrument itself. The earliest three slot had a separate transmitter & receiver. In time, a handset replaced the separate receiver/transmitter configuration and a "shroud" was added around the dial. In the 1960s, coin return doors, coin drop buttons and security locks were added. Original old pay phones without these updates are quite rare and highly collectible. All our payphones work and are equipped with a modular plug mounting cord. Pay phones do not have ringers inside. Coins drop through as they did originally, but do not operate the telephone's function. Check out our 1900-1950s or 1950s-1970s phones. |
